Kaal means death and Kaalratri means the death of the dead. She controls all the past, future and present tenses under her. Her vehicle is a donkey. After this, by invoking Maa Kalratri, the devotees should offer flowers, new medicines, incense, and oil lamps to the goddess. Offering halwa and kheer to Maa is considered auspicious. It is good to recite ‘Goddess Sukta, Ratri Sukta’ at the time of worship of Maa Kalratri. At the same time, liquor is also offered to the Maa as Bhog in many places. However, there is no such binding ritual to do so. According to some legends, Mata Kalratri is worshipped even during the night on the seventh day of Navratri.
