Some astrologers had already predicted Siddhartha’s renunciation from the materialistic world, but Shuddhodhana made several attempts to prevent him from becoming a ‘sanyasi’. Wandering continuously for many years, he met many divine sages and spent time with them, but he could not find answers to his questions. Proceeding on his journey, he was sitting in a trance under a tree near Bodh Gaya. That day was also Vaishakh Purnima. On that very day, he got the knowledge that leads to salvation and the knowledge to understand the cause of the suffering of the people.
